We collect information to provide you with a seamless travel planning experience. The types of data we collect include:
Account & Profile Information
When you create an account via Clerk authentication, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture (if provided through a social login). This data is managed by Clerk — see their privacy policy at clerk.com/privacy.
Booking & Search Data
We collect your search queries (destinations, dates, traveler counts), booking preferences, and trip details when you use our platform to search or compare travel options. Note: Waybound is an affiliate platform — actual bookings are completed with our third-party partners.
Usage & Analytics Data
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. This includes pages visited, time on site, device type, browser, approximate geographic location (city/country), and referral source. This data is anonymized and aggregated.
Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, and affiliate tracking. See Section 5 for our full Cookie Policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Waybound platform
- Personalize your travel search results and recommendations
- Track affiliate referrals and commissions with our booking partners
- Analyze usage patterns to enhance site performance and user experience
- Communicate with you about your account or inquiries
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
- Detect and prevent fraudulent activity
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, sell, or trade your personal data to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
Waybound integrates with the following third-party services to operate our platform. Each has its own privacy policy:
Google Analytics
Site analytics and usage tracking (GA4). Data is processed by Google LLC.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers: We share data with third-party services listed in Section 3 that help us operate the platform.
- Affiliate tracking: When you click a booking link, an affiliate cookie or tracking parameter is passed to our partner so we receive a commission if you complete a booking. No personal data beyond a session identifier is shared for this purpose.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Waybound and our users.
- Business transfers: If Waybound is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings (14 months by default). If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing your data for analytics or marketing purposes.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time.

8. Children's Privacy
Waybound is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at waybound_@hotmail.com and we will promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. For material changes, we may also notify you via email or a prominent notice on our site. Your continued use of Waybound after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
